Lure Coursing Results - Reidsville, NC

We had our first weekend lure coursing of the year in Reidsville, NC this weekend. It was Tash's first official AKC trial and we are very happy with the results.
Tarife - at 9 1/2 - shows she still has the will to run and surprised us by beating Tash for Best of Breed on Saturday and adding another qualifying score to her Master Courser pursuit and another point towards her LCX
Tash takes his first Best of Breed Sunday and earns his first two points towards his Lure Coursing Championship and two qualifying scores towards Senior Courser.
We are looking forward to running again in May.

Yaffa and Anna have a fabulous time in the saluki ring. With an entry of 48 salukis which included 27 bitches, Yaffa come home with Best Opposite Sex, Crufts qualification (again), Swedish Champion, Nordic Champion, CACIB and Nordic Winner 2011. Yaffa is also Number One Saluki in Norway for 2011.
What a fabulous end to a fabulous year. Thanks to Anna Storesund for her wonderful handling of our parti saluki.

OMG! What an incredible day with fabulous results.
Elsto Khariz Amazing Amanda is Best Opposite Sex at the large Nordic Winner show held in Stockholm, Sweden. She became the Afghan Hound Nordic Winner 2011 at this show, won the CACIB and qualified for Crufts again.
Amanda has once more finished as Number One Afghan Hound for the year in Norway. Congratulations to Tove and Kjell and Patrick who handled her to these wonderful wins.

November 5 & 6th, 2011 - Tarife celebrated her 9th birthday on October 17th but she proved she still has what it takes to make it around a lure coursing field. MAHA hosted the Region 7 invitational at Reidsville and Tarife showed her stuff once again by being Best of Breed on Sunday.
Congratulations to Kirby Overcash and Miles for taking home the ASA trophies by being overall high scoring for both days and winning Best of Breed on Saturday.
Tarife is 6 points short of her ASFA Field Championship. But age sure isn't stopping her!

Sunday, Sept 18th, 2011 - It promised to be a little bit better, weather wise, and while the rain did go away, it was still periodically blustery. Almost not worth brushing out the dogs. It was warmer though.
In the Afghan ring, Cassie repeated her win of the day before by going Winners Bitch and Best Opposite Sex. Cassie now has 10 points towards her title.
And in the Saluki ring, Elsto Atash-Khariz - "Tash" - is Winners Dog, BOW, Best of Breed and 3rd in the Bred by Exhibitor Group. Tash needs one major to finish his championship.
Lashes is Winners Bitch, Best Opposite Sex and is now at 7 points Thanks to judge Dana Cline for Sunday's wins.

Lier, Norway: August 20, 2011 - We are thrilled to announce that Am Norw Danish Ch. Omen Yaffa to Elsto-Khariz JC was the Best Opposite Sex choice of Juan Carlos Vasconsellos, the specialty judge for the Norwegian National Saluki Specialty for 2011. Yaffa has made few ring appearances this year and we have been grateful for the recognition she has received.

The icing on the cake was that Mr. Vasonsellos also decided Yaffa's kids, Elsto Atif-Khariz and Elsto Afareen-Khariz, were deserving of winning the dog and bitch CC at the specialty making them both Norwegian Champions. Since Afareen had won the Swedish CC last week, she now has two new titles....Norwegian and Swedish Champion.

Little Lashes - Omen Cee Candace Khariz - makes her debut at the Saluki National. In Sweepstakes she placed second behind her sister, Callie, in a large class of 15 to 18 month old bitches.

In the regular 15 to 18 month class, Lashes was fourth in a strong class of lovely bitches.

Yaffa's mom, Ch. Omen Ulla Bint Safran Monab (Beagle) won a very large 10 to 12 year Veteran Bitch class and ended the show by receiving an Award of Merit out of 100 plus champions. What a thrill to see this beautiful bitch shown by her owner to these awards. Thank you to Stephen Wailes.
Beagle showed her brood bitch qualities as well this National by placing 2nd in a gorgeous brood bitch class. Her daughter Yonna won the Novice class and daughter Ariel won an Award of Merit. In addition to these exciting wins, Beagle's daughter Yaffa wows them in Norway. See next blog entry.

We had a wonderful weekend at the 2010 AKC National Lure Coursing Championship in Reidsville, NC. It was cold but oh, so exciting to see so many wonderful runners. Tarifa was Best of Breed on Sunday and was high scoring Dual Champion Saluki for the weekend. Unfortunately, due to an injury incurred on Sunday, she was unable to compete for Best in Event Saluki. Tarifa had taken home the title in 2007, the last time the event was held in our area. We are so proud of her.

October 23 & 24, 2010 - Our veteran saluki, DC Abu Baqr's Ellah Tarife SC, shines in the Region 8 Ivitational for the American Sighthound Field Association. She is Best of Breed Saturday and Sunday and walks away with the ASA ASE Perpetual Trophy for 2010. The hosting club was SHOT in Williamsburg, VA. The judges for this event were James Anthony of Florida, Tom Cigolli of West Virginia, Ian Davies of Maryland and Pete Lowe of Colorado. It was a beautifully run event with perfect weather. May 22 and 23, 2010 - AKC Lure Coursing with Mid Atlantic Hound Association - It's been a while since Tarife has competed on the lure coursing field and last October she became a Veteran but the girl proves she still has what it takes. Back to back Best of Breed showing the young dogs how it is done. The second Best of Breed was run during a thunderstorm...but that didn't stop Tarifa. You've got lots of heart little girl!

This is the first of Yaffa and Allan's kids to win a CC as they aren't eleigible to win before they are 9 months old. What a great beginning to his show career. Our darling Yaffa has shown herself very well in Sweden. At the World Show on July 5th she received an Excellent Rating and critique and placed third in a strong open class beating 5 champion bitches.
She also received Excellent ratings at the Saluki Specialty and the Swedish Sighthound Specialty the following weekend.
